15-Minute Hawaiian Roll Grilled Cheese combines sweet rolls, melted cheddar and mozzarella, and a golden buttery crust for a cozy skillet sandwich.
12 Hawaiian rolls, kept connected
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese
3 tablespoons softened butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Optional: 4 slices cooked bacon or thin tomato slices
Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally, keeping them attached as a single sheet.
Spread butter evenly over the outer cut sides of the rolls.
Layer cheddar and mozzarella evenly over the bottom half. Add optional fillings if desired.
Place the top half over the cheese to close the sandwich.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
Transfer the sandwich to the skillet, buttered side down, and press gently with a spatula.
Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown.
Carefully flip and cook the other side for another 3 to 4 minutes until evenly toasted and the cheese has melted.
Remove from heat, rest briefly, then slice between rolls and serve warm.
