15-Minute Hawaiian Roll Grilled Cheese combines sweet rolls, melted cheddar and mozzarella, and a golden buttery crust for a cozy skillet sandwich.

Ingredients

Scale

12 Hawaiian rolls, kept connected
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese
3 tablespoons softened butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Optional: 4 slices cooked bacon or thin tomato slices

Instructions

  • Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally, keeping them attached as a single sheet.

  • Spread butter evenly over the outer cut sides of the rolls.

  • Layer cheddar and mozzarella evenly over the bottom half. Add optional fillings if desired.

  • Place the top half over the cheese to close the sandwich.

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat.

  • Transfer the sandwich to the skillet, buttered side down, and press gently with a spatula.

  • Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown.

  • Carefully flip and cook the other side for another 3 to 4 minutes until evenly toasted and the cheese has melted.

  • Remove from heat, rest briefly, then slice between rolls and serve warm.
